Godspell – 2012 Revised Version is masterful retelling of the original sensation, injected with contemporary references and dazzling new arrangements. The musical endeavors to provide a contemporary yet timeless take on the teachings of Jesus Christ with each new production of the show incorporating topical references and updates. Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden); and it took the world by storm. Led by the international hit, “Day by Day,” Godspell features a parade of beloved songs, including “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All for the Best,” “All Good Gifts,” “Turn Back, O Man” and “By My Side.” Godspell, set in modern times, gathers a rag-tag group of people who help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.

Director Chuck Osuna has been involved with various community theatres over the past 45 years both onstage and behind the scenes. You might remember him as Arnold Delvecchio in last season’s Happy Days! Chuck along with the help and expertise of Music Director Tim Turner and Choreographer David Rickel has assembled a sensational and spirited cast from all around the Metro area for our production of Godspell: Caleb Vaughn from Tulsa takes on the role of Jesus, also from Tulsa are Nicholas Bradford who will play duo roles as John the Baptist and Judas, Amalia Heiser as Celisse, and Christian Sapulpa as Telly. Braden Clapp of Fairfax Oklahoma as Nick, from Coweta we have Breana McIntosh as Georgie, from Claremore we have Alyssa Brown as Lindsay, Lucia McFarland from Owasso plays Morgan, Chali Lowrance from Sapulpa is in the ensemble as is David Grant from Broken Arrow. Rounding out the cast are hometown Broken Arrow actors Alexis Walker playing Anna Maria and Jesamine Katzman as Uzo. All are hard at work making this last show of our 39th Season one you won’t want to miss.
