In the early 1900s, Tulsa was home to a famous African American business district known as Greenwood. Booker T. Washington visited the area and christened it “Black Wall Street” because it was so prosperous. Sadly, much of it was destroyed in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. This new play, written by Rebecca Marks Jimerson and Henry Primeaux, is based on the childhood memories of massacre survivor Lassie Benningfield Randle.
